Can a blind person ride a bicycle? Of course he/she can! All he/she needs for this is a special tandem bicycle.
The tandem is a bicycle designed for two or more people sitting in an arrangement one behind the other. A typical tandem has, just like a unicycle, one frame and two wheels, but each person has his own: handlebars, saddle and pedals. When a blind person rides the bike he or she sits in the back, while the tandem is steered by a sighted person in the front.
Have you ever seen a blind person on the tandem? If you would like to see what it looks like, we invite you on July 28 to the Krakow Planty and Vistula Boulevards. That's where we'll be riding from 12:00 to 15:00. Around 13:30 we'll be waiting near the Wawel Dragon. We will be happy to talk and answer your questions. And who will be riding? Blind and sighted people from the WOMAI Center for Science and Senses.
You are warmly welcome!
We would like to thank Krk Bike Rental for renting the tandems. We encourage you to check out their offer.
