According to statistics, one in 10 babies is born prematurely. Premature babies usually have problems with their respiratory, digestive, circulatory or nervous systems, as well as with their eyesight or hearing.
On 17 November 2023, we celebrated World Prematurity Day. The following day, 18 November, the WOMAI Centre organised a sensory workshop during a meeting to celebrate this day. The meeting was held thanks to the initiative of the Neonatus Foundation, the Krakow Foundation for the Preborn Child. In the premises of the W. Reyman Municipal Stadium in Krakow, former patients and their families joyfully and enthusiastically participated in joint games.
During the sensory workshops, a blind person talked about the sight problems of premature babies, life and passions of blind people. There were lots of sensory games, writing names in Braille and going through an obstacle course with a white cane.
We would like to thank the Neonatus Foundation for inviting us to the meeting and for the opportunity to organise the sensory workshop.
