On 22 October we prepared a workshop on the accessibility of science for blind and visually impaired people. The workshop was held as part of Open Access Week at the AGH Main Library in Krakow.
Open Access Week is an opportunity for the academic and research community to learn more about the potential benefits of Open Access, share their knowledge and help inspire a wider range of people towards tolerance and openness.
We introduced participants to the definition of accessibility. We talked about its types, in particular digital, architectural, information and communication. The workshop was led by Sylwia Ziarnik, who is visually impaired and guides the exhibition "Into the darkness" at the WOMAI Center. She showed several examples of assistive technology, including an electronic magnifier and a VoiceOver screen reader. There was also a demonstration of walking with a white cane and a talk about attention fields, teaching assistants.
It was a very interesting workshop. We would like to thank the AGH Main Library for the invitation.
We encourage you to view the photo report.
