January 10 marked the official opening of the #Inclusion Mindfulness Mentoring Program organized by Fireflies. This is the only such mentoring program in Poland, which is designed to prepare people and businesses to include people with disabilities in their companies and organizations. A total of as many as 36 mentoring pairs are taking part in the program to spread the Diversity and Inclusion slogan. The goal is one: to build partnerships between business and people with disabilities.
One of the mentors, Pawel Król, appeared on behalf of WOMAI and gave an inspiring presentation about his life, while sharing his experience with the participants. Paweł is a blind person, so he knows very well how important it is to promote good habits of mindfulness and open the market to people with disabilities.
How is it possible that, being blind, he plays sports, travels and has learned to speak three foreign languages fluently? He wouldn't have accomplished this if it weren't for his persistence and determination, as well as his desire to prove to the world that disability is not synonymous with exclusion from life. The presentation ended with an intriguing conversation about possible anxiety in relationships with people with disabilities, what does it stem from and how to get rid of it? Is telling a blind person "goodbye" a sign of ignorance or the opposite? Using naturally common phrases is a sign of inclusiveness. Moved by the presentation, participants were eager to ask questions and interact with the speaker.
The next meeting is coming soon!
