The tradition of searching for the hare came to us from Germany. Initially, it was only found in Silesia and Greater Poland, but over time it spread to other parts of Poland. The oldest Kashubians remember looking in their gardens or hiding places at home for sweets or eggs hidden by the bunny.
The French and Swiss also have a tradition similar to the German. There, at Easter, one searches for eggs hidden by the Easter bunny at night. In France, the custom is so strong that there are even organised searches for chocolate eggs in city parks.
