In WOMAI we offer school students an atypical form of education which consists in play and mutual discovery of the world that surrounds us. At the exhibition Into the light they will explore questions from all the fields of science and by choosing the second path “Into the darkness” they will develop their empathy.
EXPERENCE BEING BLIND
At the exhibition "Into the darkness", the lights will completely go out, and we will be led into the realm of the senses. In absolute darkness we will try to get to know the world from the perspective of a blind person, we will create in our imagination an image of what is invisible, but what we can hear, touch and even feel.
We have prepared for you a proposal of unique sensory workshops "see by touch", during which we discuss the functioning of the blind. Our offer is addressed to the youngest - preschool children and students in grades 1-4 of primary schools.
What are the workshops like?
The entire meeting is conducted by a blind person. The specificity of the classes and the variety of materials will allow to improve the participants' sensorics and stimulate their senses. We have prepared many attractive-to-the-touch art materials that will be used to create interesting and, more importantly, legible works for the blind. Participants will have the opportunity to sign their works in Braille. School groups are offered individual tours with a guide who adjusts the style of the tour to the appropriate age group. Some of the topics on the light path:
- The phenomenon of luminescence
- The effect of colourful shadow
- Hypsometric maps and terrain relief modelling
- Famous personalities and their historical aspect
- Venetian mirrors
- Sound and light
For younger children, the tour is conducted in a playful way as the guide gives children some time to discover phenomena and to play with it, providing at the same time an unforgettable entertainment.
